diaLearn – a learning community on language, culture and communication in international business closely linked with dialogin The Delta Intercultural Academy.

diaLearn is the virtual campus for students of various B.A., M.A. and M.B.A programmes offered by Hochschule Konstanz Technik, Wirtschaft und Gestaltung University of Applied Sciences, Germany.

diaLearn was developed during the second phase of the web.MBA project, funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and the State of Baden-Württemberg, implemented jointly with thinkhouse GmbH, Mönchengladbach, and based on the freeware learning management system Moodle.

Our philosophy

E-learning in whatever form brings about increased flexibility in time and space and thus increased freedom to shape the learning process to suit individual needs: learners can work at their own pace and do not have to be physically present at a particular time in the educational institution providing the course.

The e-learning concept chosen for diaLearn, however, also recognises the motivational role played by personal contact amongst the participants and with the academic staff and other facilitators.

For this reason, our approach offers a blended learning experience, i.e. some of the learning takes place online and some in conventional face-to-face sessions. These increase the effectiveness of the learning processes which take place at other times online.

Our e-learning concept thus blends - in varying proportions - new and established learning forms in order to take account of a wide variety of preferred learning styles and the individual circumstances of the participants.
